Essential for the future of journalism: collaboration across skill sets
“Sorry, but didn’t you present at a civic media conference in Rome?” Andrew Slack blinks, processing the mental shift from a street corner on MIT’s campus to somewhere in Rome, before responding enthusiastically “yes! I thought I’d seen you before, I was just talking about what you’ve done around the Arab Spring. How is that going?”.
“Funny, we were just talking about The Harry Potter Alliance”.
Anna's thinking: CivicMedia 2012 Prep Work
Despite it being a lovely day here in DC, I’m indoors preparing for tomorrows conference around civic media “The Story and the Algorithm” hosted by The Knight Foundation and MIT MediaLab.
We’ve been going over the attendee list this past week, looking to see if there might be some good good stories for our blog on Forbes as well as potential Fellow candidates. The line up and the people all look fantastic, so needless to say it was easy to get sidetrack when googling. We haven’t been able to google everyone - but almost!
Prep work also entails getting everything ready for live blogging and tweeting, like listing all the speakers @-handles for easy tweeting, and adding bio links for easy blogging, for those that might have a good story for us.
Will attempt to liveblog on our Ashoka US tumblr, and post some more lengthy business related posts on Forbes. Looking forward!
Looking forward to the posts!
